Chevy Camaro & G20 Van
Discussion
Hi all. First post (been lurking a while). Well this is my '91 Camaro RS. Unfortunately not the V8... 3.1 V6 making a whopping (wait for it) 140 HP. So basically incredibly slow, but shifts smooth and effortless to drive. 4 speed auto with overdrive so good for the commute. Very American red cloth interior with high back buckets, CD player, PAS, cruise control, air conditioning, power locking and power windows which is not bad considering it's the bargain basement model. And quite a firm ride too for a Yank. Not to everyones tastes but I love it.
And this is my G20 dayvan which I've only had two weeks. Again not to everyones taste, but lots of room for luggage and can also hold 6 passengers. 4 captains chairs and a bench/bed, plus a little coffee table thing that seems to get in the way alot. Motor is a very lazy 5.7 which is rated at 210HP and 300LB-FT torque so not too sluggish either for a big van. Awesome vehicle got a lot of BBQs, shows etc planned for it!

Thanks for the nice comments folks...
I could probably source a V8 for the Camaro, not sure of the logistics of dropping one in, however I'm sure there are a few companies locally who could do the work (I don't really have the facilities), though whilst the V6 is in good working order I'll keep it standard for now. A third gen Camaro you can pick up as low as £1500 for a tatty one, but if you're looking for a decent one with lots of paperwork anywhere between £3k - £5k seems to be the going rate.
The van only cost £875, which is pretty cheap for a van of it's type, but there are a few tatty bits that need sorted, and it could do with some new shocks and a service. They seem to go around the £4k-£5k mark, you get a lot of van for your money though! MPG wise I honestly couldn't tell you as I haven't had a chance to measure it yet, mine seems pretty thirsty but like I say it needs a good service, if you're only planning to use it the odd weekend then it's probably not going to be too bad

Yeah although they're both a joy to drive sometimes some extra HP would be nice (especially in the Camaro), mind you plenty of torque in the van, but how much of that factory figure is left I'm not sure - probably about a tenth. Definately would benefit from some new plugs, filters etc but remember it's 32 years old now so probably in need of a rebuild!
Could have been worse, if I recall correctly the 5.7 motor dropped from the 200's in the '70s to about 150 for a period in the 80s!
