Another bargain Golf. I've just paid £800 for a clean white MK2 GTIm 143,000 miles and it's drives as tight as anything, no rattles, squeaks or funny noises.
Very clean car, are you going to keep it original?
Yeah, would be a shame to change anything on a car like it to be honest. I was tempted by a subtle stainless steel exhaust but can't find any I really like. Suspension is another maybe but I wouldn't want to drop it any more than the bare minimum and people tell me that uprating bushes and top mounts would be more effective than that.Very clean car, are you going to keep it original?
Uprated anti-roll bars are what I would do first, assuming all the bushes/springs/dampers were in good condition. Makes a huge difference to how the car feels.
I like your example, btw. I had Mk2's but I now hanker after a Mk3 as I only run one car and the Mk2s are all getting long in the tooth and deserve a bit more pampering than I have time for just now.

a beauty mate. iv an abf in a mk2. quick little motor.
as said, a few choive mods and it will be a proper little weapon.
vw abf exhausts flow well so leave that
get a k&n and take out the airbox trumpet and smooth the box out. id get catch tank and bypass the pcv. they always leak.
weitec/bilstein springs dampers
h&r roll bars
a mix of poly and vw bushes to tighten things up
mine runs dead on 149.5hp and an increase of 10 lbft on a D_Dynamics rollers. good power. but since the head rebuild seems a little quicker
