My Citroen ZX 16V
Discussion
Some of you may have seen this for sale on here.. am starting to have second thoughts though as I know I'm going to regret it and probably wont get another chance to get an unmolested one again.
It's one of 81 left on the road and hasn't been in the hands of a Halfords racer in it's life. haha. Only small mod it has is a K&N. It's done a little over 106K has plenty left in it I reckon. Definetly a bit of a trojan horse and can put a lot of other similar hatches in their place.
It does need a bit of tlc on the front bumper/bonnet and some idiot has made a small scrape in the paintwork on the rear bumper just last week :@.. But isn't looking too bad for a K plate!
Anyway, just posting it on here to see what you guys think!

It's a hard one as I'm at uni for another couple of years and I do a fair few miles. So thinking it may be sensible to get a diesel. Was thinking maybe a Volcane as I do have a thing for ZX's. Love the way they handle and I hear the XUD's are nigh on indestructible. haha.

I had one of those for 4 years, and loved it! mine was actually an ex-press car, i added some GrpN rear beam mounts, the 6speeder from the gti-6 (bolts straight on, just don't expect to be able to turn right much!!) At the time a guy i worked with had a proper GTi-6, and those cars were so even it was amazing, we could do a 50mile cross country blast and still be only a fag paper apart. Miss mine actually ;-(
(also, little known fact, as the ZX16v has the "tuned for torque" 2.0, which has the switchable length intake manifold, it needs an engine driven vac pump to maintain the vaccuum, and this is also used for the brake servo, so, as a result, it's one of the best cars to left foot brake that i've ever had, as the brake force doesnt change with throttle angle!! On a wet roundabouts, with a bit of LFB'ing, i had people ask if it was rwd..........)

Have been tempted by a GTI6 engine/gearbox conversion.. Are the gains worth it? Or am I better off tuning the S16 motor in there?(also, little known fact, as the ZX16v has the "tuned for torque" 2.0, which has the switchable length intake manifold, it needs an engine driven vac pump to maintain the vaccuum, and this is also used for the brake servo, so, as a result, it's one of the best cars to left foot brake that i've ever had, as the brake force doesnt change with throttle angle!! In either case you'd be wanting a set of throttle bodies, long branch exh manifold, reprofiled cams, and programmable ecu to get a serious power gain)

Bit rich for my blood, the last few I've seen up were about £600. Chronically underpriced in fairness but not very many people like them. It's a hard one as I'm at uni for another couple of years and I do a fair few miles. I really wouldn't get something boring just for the fuel economy, I did exactly the same, got through a 1.4 SPI ZX and a 1.1 Saxo before I figured out I'd much rather pay the petrol difference. It isn't even that much doing 150 miles a week.
As for tuning, I wouldn't bother with the 6 engine, if money was no object I'd go long stroke crank, high comp pistons, throttle bodies and cams for 220-240bhp
. If you're only going mild just stick cams, 6 manifolds and aftermarket ECU on.Oh and AVAC, great if it works
