My Alfa Romeo 156 V6 in Polar White

Hi all, thought I'd post the new motor on here. Its a 2000 X-plate 156 2.5 V6 24V with just 50000 miles on the clock. In short, its been perfect so far. She really is immaculate, I only spent a few hours on it prior to these shots, so just a quick clean really. Hoping to get it detailed soon, I think she deserves it 
No plans for it as yet other than a resprayed cam cover, and possibly an Autodelta carbon intake. Been thinking about the prospect of red leather too; any opinions on how it would look against the white paintwork? Hope you all like it.

Looking absolutely fantastic, Rob. I miss the 156 already - the combination of looks, comfort and noise make a brilliant car. Love the ideas you've got for it (red leather would be absolutely spectacular) and tidying up the engine will be nice. I'm so pleased you're thrilled with it; it really is great to see it being enjoyed and cherished so much. If you keep it in the condition it's in then I can't see it ever losing any money either so it's all good news really. I'm enjoying my Clio (although at the moment it has no front dampers as they're being rebuilt!), but I do miss the Alfa's charms from time to time.

It offers such a lovely balance between comfort and control; the steering on my 147 was sharp and responsive, but the 156 offers such an improvement in steering feel. It even seems more eager to turn in and far more confidence inspiring, which is quite a surprise considering that it's a bigger car with a heavier engine. Oh, and that brings me neatly to the engine
it is without doubt the highlight of the car. I've been lucky to drive many different cars in my short time working in the motor trade, but never have I experienced an engine which sounds so divine, revs so eagerly, and pulls so smoothly that silk is a comparative abrasive.
The best thing about Alfa Romeos though, is the way they make you feel. From the second I set eyes on this car, I knew I was buying it. It could've been a dog, it could've been knackered, but I still wouldn't have had the heart to turn away from it. The way it looked, and the noise when I turned the key completely had me under it's spell. David can vouch for the smile that etched onto my face when I blipped the throttle
Some people don't get it, they ask why I've bought an "ancient" X-plate car, when I had a newer one before
others can't see why I'd be happy to do 20mpg in today's world of rocketing oil prices. I'm delighted with it though, you only live once and boy, when you're stretching it's legs, does it make you feel alive.

Of course, £2300. That was with 49k on the clock, belts, tensioners and water pump changed at 44k. Four new Falken FK452 tyres, and all four Teledials freshly refurbed. I actually prefer the 156 now to the 159, it hasn't always been the case, but the 156 when parked next to a 159 shows just how much cars have become "bloated" in just a few short years. The 159 remains a fabulous looking car, but the proportions of the 156 are near perfect IMHO.
