No where near as fast I know but the auto box is great!
Brought after loosing a load of money on my previous cars engine re-build so I can now start saving up for the next silly toy. smile

2006 550i M sport in Jade Green (there is a funny name for it), extended light package, all the usual toys inc Sat Nav, TPMS etc etc. Trying very hard not to spend a shed load on the suspension, exhaust department as the cars great as it is and perfectly suited as a fast motorway bruiser. I have to admit that I do have an orriginal M5 rear bumper for it and keep looking at a german suppliers twin exhaust for it (cat back) but dont want to spoil the car or its re-sale as its not a keeper really.
Performance wise its about the same to 100 as a properly re-mapped 335d sport but I think after that it will pull ahead....

Very nice. What are these, 4.8 V8? Near 400bhp?

Got the same engine in my 6 and it's a peach. 70% of the M5 power without the frightening running costs!

Wouldn't say no to an M5 though wink

Just shy of 370 but DMS recon on 405 with a re-map and having spoken to them they will garentee that with a dyno run to prove...... smile

Its the M running costs that concern me and may make me mod this one TBH. AS much as I could afford to run the M I resent the day to day cost when I just want to get somewhere without utilising the supercar performance.

I am impressed with the 550 though, enough to shock someone on a Milli R bike the other day who thought it was just a slow saloon.... laugh

Are the wheels genuine?

i thought they were but had them refurbed in black shadow chrome last week and their reps, allbeit good ones. Not seen another with the wheels in this colour yet, seems to suit the car well.

Nice car, looks (almost) more black than (jade) green.

Lovely car, very nice indeed.

If I may make a suggestion.....don't add the bumper or M5esque exhausts. You'll spoil it IMO smile

Superb, but as stated previously- no m5 bumper, it looks great as it is!

Anyone fitted an LSD to one of these cars (Birds offer a service) as the recent weather is going to cause the red light on my dash to blow with the amount of time its staying on!

I think the day to day slog with this engine and an auto box is the way to go imo. It's just such a smooth and effortless drive. The DMS mapping sounds tempting, but I can't find any user reviews on the net, and I'm not sure an extra 30bhp (maybe less given that BMW usually underquote power) is worth it - I don't want to mess with the car as it feels so good as it is.

If you do get it though, let me know how you get on with it!
