Maybe because he wants his car to look more like a coupe (arguably better looking), as he won't be putting the roof down in winter? Personally, I think a hardtop looks much better than a rag top.

I put the hard top on the day i posted the pics as winter is here. Bit cold with roof down now. As for looks i think the convertible with the hard top on looks better than coupe anyway. Imho of course.
