Really on a roll now! Within days of buying the Jaaaag we have now gone and added a 97 MX5 to the fleet. Had a little hoon in it on the way home and can see why they are so highly rated already. More to follow once we have had a roof down blast in the winter sunshine!

You get a great handling, surprisingly reliable, two seater convertible with pop up headlights for a comparatively small sum of cash. Assuming you only need 2 seats and 30mpg isn't an issue they are fantastic little things!
Lovely car, they do look fantastic in black.
Congrats, just wait until you drop the roof.

Quite impressed with the fleet we have accumulated within a fortnight of getting back from travelling.2 nice looking motors you have too
Just noticed you're in MK; my office is in Woburn so I pass through there frequently, don't forget to wave!
Alas, my 20k+ mileage a year prohibited an XJR so have to make do without any supercharged goodness! Mind you, got the MX5 for power!
Out of curiosity; does the XJR handle? Although my XJ8 feels balanced, it's handling is decidedly boat-like and the variable rack steering not suited to pressing on.

The XJR...
Well, when I first drove it, at very slow speeds the suspension felt very soft when compared with my previous Mondeo ST, and combined with light steering... I wasn't sure about it.
But, the way it firms up (I'm guessing due to the CATS) on a twisty road when pressing on is remarkable. It stops rolling around, and the body control is impressive. My passat was fairly softly sprung, and had a good ride but when pushing on, started to roll and pitch about with terrible body control. The Jag has a ride at least as good if not better than the passat, and when pushing on just gets better. The steering is light, but actually gives good feedback. The speed you can carry on a good A road is very, very deceptive. It can be great fun.
All that said though, to me it feels a bit remote. The mx-5 chatters away, feeling the bumps, camber, and grip. The Jag, handles extremely well, but sort of insulates you from the road with a slightly disdainful, "Sir shouldn't be concerned with all that nonsense, allow me..." It is excellent though!
On a twisty road, the Jag would be faster. But, IMO, the mx-5 is much more fun.
