My car history so far

Hi everyone, i come on here PH daily but never post so decided to say hello and post up some of the cars i have owned so far!

So, not in any particular order:

My audi 80, bought for £400 as a daily barge and it performed its job well but i soon got bored of it and sold



Peugeot 306 gti6, i loved this car (even the colour) was around 190bhp and handled very well would love another one.



My favourite car so far, nissan 200sx s14a - i wish i hadn't sold it and will definitely be buying another one soon!



I also had a toyota MR2 (non turbo) was a great car, im sure the turbo is stupidly quick



Nissan 200sx s13, this was good fun made 255bhp on the rolling road. Sadly the cambelt went, i think it may be doing the rounds on driftworks now



VW Mk3 golf gti 8v, these get a lot of stick i thought it was quite good, took it on a road rally and it did very well



Peugeot 309 gti, bought for road rallies. It was fully stripped and had a group n exhaust. Was brilliant on the road rallies



BMW 530 i bought this car with a friend for a trip to the nurburgring. It was a great car sounded amazing and was surprisingly quick, sadly it died on the ring along with quite alot of armco and my mates finances!



My current car, ford focus zetec, boring but very reliable economical etc etc but i like the colour, will be buying a toy in the new year



Finally another ring car, a vauxhall omega 3.0 v6 ex police job, this ca made it back from the ring! was good fun, loved to drift not the best handler tho, was fully stripped



Thats it for now im sure i have forgotten some! Looking at buying a new car soon, possibly a 535, 200sx s14a again i change my mind every day so will have to wait and see!

Pretty good. Like the mr2 - maybe because it's red.

I had a Nissan s13 200sx in the 1990s. It felt a bit fragile but it was great fun and I learned a lot from it.

My friend went into a corner a bit too quick, came off the track and hit a barrier, i think it was about 2k euros total bill, certainly not cheap crashing there!

Welcome aboard TB! The idea of taking a stripped out snotter around the ring is one of the few things on my life's 'to do' list.

Regarding the insurance bill, how does it work? Was that track insurance once you were there with an excess, or your own policy?

BTW if any of the pedants on here berate you for posting a pic of your Audi on double yellows, tell 'em to feck off!

I believe that insurance companies are now specifically excluding the 'ring from their policy cover. Should you be unfortunate enough to have an off, you will be paying for anything damaged or anyone injured. Some posts in the Caterham section discussed this. I would just suggest if anyone goes, see where you stand for cover before you set off.

Yeah this.

Basically come out of your own pocket. Can you get any insurance whatsoever for the ring? maybe trackday insurance.

yeah basically it all went on his credit card! I believe you can get insurance from a company at the ring but they check your car over and its not cheap, some friends who came rented a clio from rsr rentals which included insurance, however the excess was pretty crazy!

cheers! Taking a cheap snotter is brilliant i would definitely recommend it, however next year i may choose cars at little differently, maybe something that handles a little better!
