My Caterham 7 Superbright R

I've owned my 7 for almost 8 years now, but having blown up the engine and also having had 2 kids since I bought it, I thought it was time to treat it to a bit of TLC.
I've had it totally stripped down and rebuilt with new panels, full cage, race tonneau & boot cover, and sprayed in Lamborghini green. Engine is also a new DVA 1800k with forged pistons, VHPD head, Emerald ECU and other bits. Yesterday I drove it for the first time in over 6 years and i'm still grinning.

The dull light wasn't great for showing the colour off, but what do you think?

Looks bloomin good that, I would love to own one similar one day. The only thing not to my taste is the pinstripe on the wheel edge, not that it offends me that much.

I did laugh at the pic of you getting in, having done many shotgun trips in a friends various caterfields I didn't realise how difficult it would be to get in/out of one with a full cage!

I've been in one with a similar cage setup, I think you can actually go out sideways, (look at the shape of 'door' bars, the bodywork on the drivers side without the tonnea will follow that line near your elbow).

The problem with going out sideways is you end up on your hands and knees on the pavement - going up is probably a tiny bit easier!

Looks mad, completely impractical, impossible to get in and out, hideous colour, too noisey, too fast, too twitchy, too low and downright dangerous.

That is fantastic, love it. The cage is a race cage, may be tricky to get out of, but at least you would be alive to try and get out of the wreckage. What I really like is that it looks totally out of place on the public road. Perfect!

Glad to see it back out and about. If I'd specced mine from new, it'd be in Kawasaki green, so very similar.

How's the engine work? Mines going to DVA in April for a bit of work it's self.

I quite agree, given the choice I would rather have/be driven in one with the full cage, it just never dawned on me after quite a few road trips in Caterhams that it would make it a bit tricky to exit. I think the poster above made a good point though that the tonneau(sp) on the passenger side picture does make it look tighter than it actually is.

I don't think that the original photos I posted do the colour justice. The Verde Ithaca Pearl paintjob needs a bit of light to get the metallic glint going, so here's some I prepared earlier....
