Hi All,

After having seen and tested various E39 M5s, I decided that I just couldn't justify the 15 mpg around town driving nor the potential for big Vanos bills, especially as there is the Cerbera in the garage for when I need some fun!!

SO

I have gone for what I believe the next best thing - a 2003, 53, E39 530d M Sport.
I absolutely LOVE the look of these - much better looking, in my opinion, than the E60 model

It's a last of line with 83K miles, full history, grey leather, angel eyes, sport suspension an of course the gorgeous 18 inch parallel alloys!

I have a nice test drive and with 193 HP, it goes pretty well whilst returning over 40mpg on a run. There is potential for 230hp with a chip but I think I will leave alone for now.

Hope you like it - plans are to have it detailed and that's about it!!

I had an E39 Touring. I miss the car, but not the Luxembourg dealer service bills.

Yours looks to be a lovely example and I do like those M Sport wheels. thumbup

Would absolutely love one of those, especially in that spec (I personally would go for a touring), but people seem to be asking absolutely stupid money for them, reasonable mileage/spec cars with mediocre history were around £8k+ last time I looked! Same as an E60 equivalent..

Very nice, But the 540i is clearly the next best thing laugh

What did you pay for it (if you dont mind me asking)? as realisticly, our 540i Sport may have to go for one of these in the future.

Fit an M5 lower front grille, they look far better!

Paid quite a lot but it is absolutely spotless. £7900 but having wheels refurbished and rear bumper painted for that price

why are'nt all cars this good looking when specified by people. Stunning OP , very classy looking car, excellent find! should be good for 100k and given that its a oil burner probably the best part of the engine. Enjoy,

Fair enough, Couple of years newer than ours and 40k less miles and I expect our car would struggle to fetch over 5k if that.

Agreed. smile BMW unfortunately lost the plot after the E46/E39/E38-series.

Would rather be seen in such a nice example as OP's than an E60.

Fantastic cars, the best 5-Series range ever was the E39's IMHO. Lovely colour, good low mileage example with the right spec. The styling is subtle and classy, much nicer than BMW's efforts these days. Great car smile
