Hi Folks

Just thought i'd share with you my Road Rally impreza

Bought a few months ago and it's got a few rally mods.

Being a road rally car turbos arn't allowed so I've put the 2.5 Legacy engine in it. So it has about 170bhp ish.

It's running a 4.1 RA box and Diff. So is good for about 110 ish mph.

A few other rally mods include:

STi Suspension

Ford Escort fly off hydraulic handbrake.

Brake Bias adjuster

Full roll cage

Sparco Bucket Seats

harnesses etc

It's a bit tatty but hey it's a rally car

When you say 'Road Rally', what do you mean, exactly?

I used to navigate in what we called Road Rallies/Navigation Rallies, carried out on open public roads, usually at night, with the route being determined by clues/puzzles on OS maps. You had a set time to be at each checkpoint and the times were set based on road speed limits (ie 30/40/60mph etc) for the stage distance. Great fun, even if I was pretty guff at it!

Is it the same thing or something different that you did? Just that we never had the 'no turbo' rule.

The no turbo came rule came in for road rallys a couple of years ago now, still allowed on navigational permits though.

I will keep an eye out for you this year then. I'm doing some modern events Navvying for my Brother in a Clio 172.
I know of somebody else who just bought a White N/A Scooby RR Car, unless you are one and the same..... not out with Andy Fish on the Ryemoor are you?

Having just started out doing some road rallies myself, I think stage rallying must be easy in comparison!

How do you rally at a 30mph average? It must be a pretty sedate rally!

Presumably the entrants frequently become extremely 'lost' and are then forced to make up time in order to average 30mph.

Unless there is a rolling start, in order to average the speed limit, you will have to exceed it at some point anyway.

If it's a forest track you'd normally only drive down at 15mph, it's quite fun.

I was under the impression that people on these things hooned like fk (where safe and on private roads, obviously) and then parked up in a layby, before rolling through the finish line precisely on time for their average speed.
