How much slower in real terms is the non-turbo than the turbo..
The sport being n/a is noticably slower from standing start and straight line and maxes at only apx 130 mph average standard but has loads of torque, has AWD and as a daily run around is ace. Group 13 insurance, much better mpg than the turbo's and runs on bog standard 95 unleaded, easy and straightforward to service + maintain and just as much fun in the twisties. There are also the usual tweeks you can do to enhance performance and handling. The hacker for example has off the top of my head improved induction, lightweight flywheel and crank pulley, organic clutch, full wrx suspension & drop links, WR sport back box, wrx brakes and upgraded interior,k+n filters and air/fuel ratio control but i am also loosing a bhp or two by having a set of borla headers on the car - but its worth it for the exhaust burble and as im never in any particular hurry to get to work/tescos etc it doesnt matter to me, plus im lucky enough to have a turbo version sat there too. Have a look at examples for sale, there are real bargains out there and id reccommend sport models to anyone.
Cheers, Kylie

I wish I has 1 Scubby , just waiting until the insurance is a bit lower.....
The N/A engine is a horrible lump in my experience - they really are gutless and the full time 4WD doesn't help as it does sap a lot of power. The 130odd bhp feels a lot less than it actually is. In this respect the later R models with 160bhp are a much better daily runner prospect.are those bmw m3 wheels on the daily hack?

They are also a very very different car to the WRX and STi models, as they handle very differently too. Do not be fooled because the look very similar. Think 1.6 focus to RS different.
Don't get me wrong the N/A cars a superb car in their own right - mine never missed a beat - but they are not a sporty fun car to own.
