Toyota MR2 Mk1 - The car I didn't want or need

You know what its like. You come to a point in your life where you have no money to spend on a car, no where to keep one, you already have 2 cars that you never drive and absolutely no use for another one.
What do you do? Buy an old Japanese mid engined sports car of course!
I'd been slowly coming round to the idea of an MX5, having spent a fair amount of time around Robbie's ( identti ) beautiful import and some other friends uk cars and seen how much fun they were. But some research showed that for my budget of £0 I was going to get not a lot of car.
Anyway, I was look at a mates MX5 and chatting about them when he pointed out the Mk1 MR2 he had in the corner of his unit with all the bodywork removed, and said he'd be looking to sell it for not a huge amount of money in the near future.
A bit of a look around the car, a couple of insurance quotes a few phone calls later and I had a deposit on it. A couple of days were spent putting it back together and on the 11th of february (my 20th birthday) it flew through its MOT
Back at home.....
I am extremely happy with it! Needs a new clutch and some rustproofing but other than that its a really nice car.

Has a good look through the history yesterday and found that, although I bought it from bristol, from 1990 -> 2008 it has actually lived less than 8 miles from my house! So I've brought it home really.
I also found every 6 month service reciept from 1990 when it was purchased from a Mitsubishi dealer (traded for a Starion?
), reciepts for repair patches to the rear arches, new stainless exhaust, all the tyres its ever worn, every time it's had alignment done... all from garages that I know and have used in the past!
In other news, I've spent a lot of money on Camskill and the car will be recieving a full 'C' service and new clutch as soon as possible. Oh and I splashed out on some new speakers so I can hear my music on the motorway!

Changed the clutch today, 6 hour job and all seems to have gone well. Amazing how much difference a new clutch makes to the driving experience!
Had a quick look over this at Cheddar yesterday. It was nice to see a mk1 about as you don't see them very often any more and yours looks pretty tidy, hope things continue going well with the car.
I was there in the mk2 MR2 that I also picked up for very cheap.

Rob, it is fairly tidy but it has had the standard Mk1 welding done to the rear arches and some more needed! Other than that there's nothing serious. I had a little wander around yours and it looked pretty smart, good to see the MR2 contingent out and about
