problem is, if you are fairly well off you can afford the porsche and use it as a track day car, because the it's strong, the brakes tough, and servicing relatively cheap and intervals long.
The ferrari, is for the serioulsy rich, because the running costs are far higher, and I bet it couldnt take day after day of track action without some serious cash having to be spent on it.

Kev, you are quite right, sensibility has nothing to do with it. Go with your heart and if you are still not sure and your wallet can afford it have both. Then get the a BMW M5/M3 as a sensible third car.
BTW, the CS also looks better with Da Vinci's great, great, great grandsons stripe. Any chance of demonstrating the race button next time we meet?

I think the fact that the GT3RS managed to match the Ferrari lap time when it's 45 BHP down on power compared with the 360 CS and is slightly heavier is a tremendous achievement and all for 50K less.
I suspect that the Porker will also cope with sustained track day abuse far better than the 360 cs.

It's not that dramatic- it quickens the shifts, puts more 'give' in the traction control and makes the exhaust bypass open earlier. Definitely more fun though. The real 'psychopath' button is the one labelled 'launch control' and I haven't used that one yet..

There have been a couple of new ones around at list and a little used pccb car was ever so slightly under list. You do have to look hard to find these though.
I was potentially very interested in one of these until very recently. The opportunity was there and a passenger ride followed.
Clarkson summed it up early on in his report a very hard ride, track focussed machine.
Buying it is one thing, but the prospect of tracking an £85k car put me off, particularly as on a recent trackday at a power circuit a very nice 964RS on sticky rubber was lapping 5 secs a lap quicker than the GT3RS.
p.s. No I don't own a 964RS

Kev, thanks very much for taking me for a spin in the 360CS the other week. I certainly thought it was dramatic and it sounded amazing!

Here are the photos that I took that day:
