Ignition lock on my 993tt sometimes does not wish to turn, even when the steering lock is not engaged. Can take a minute of wiggling before it finally frees up. Same with the spare key, so not key wear it seems.

Just trying to establish if it's an isolated case and if there are known remedies. Doesn't feel seized or sticky, so not sure that lubrication will help. Any ideas?

Thanks

Nel

I had that problem recently on my 993 (non tt...), i got the feeling it was the imbobilizer, do you have one of thos factory fitted one's with the small second lozenge shaped gold contacts key. I got out of the car, locked it, then unlocked it, key turned 1st time.

Yeah - I thought that it might be immobiliser related and pressed the plip a few times. Didn't seem to do much good - it's the wiggling that frees it up!

For your info, Porsche specialist garage told me yesterday to consider changing out the ignition lock barrel. He's seen this before and it gradually gets worse, until one day you're stuck because the key just won't turn...

No one else experienced this? I must be one unlucky melon farmer then.
