2007 car with 3,000 miles but apparently, is CAT-D.

Looks in good condition from what can been seen, but is it priced far too high for what is?

Surely the fact that is a CAT-D means it should be priced in the 40ks?

Is this not the car that was re-shelled into a brand new shell?
Also what is the other black car that was badly damaged for sale, got a link to the advert?

Way too high, a quick search on autotrader shows non damaged cars for low £50s. I reckon £39995 would be closer to its real value.

Absolutely, but I wouldn't walk away from Cat-D just because it's a Cat-D. Keeping fingers crossed for a "good" Cat-D to come up priced in the 30's which I would snap up without a thought.

I sold a Cat D car during the week. It was priced accordingly and I had the pics from when it was damaged, so the buyer knew what he was getting. As long as a car is repared properly then there isnt a problem. I wouldnt buy one if I couldnt see how it was damaged though.
There is a Cat D Panamera on Copart at the minute if anyone is in the market.

Are you a dealer Thom? May I ask the ball park sales figure that you sold the CAT-D 997 GT3 at? Always good to have a mental marker.

Thing is, 'CAT D' doesnt tell you much. Just that the Insurance company decided to write it off on cost grounds.

Obviously, on a newer car, this suggests a pretty decent bit of damage.

This will have had a big knock. 50k is way too high.

Not a dealer, but I dabble when I see something that I want/like. It wasnt a GT3 or a porsche for that matter that I sold. I was just commenting that if a Cat D car is priced properly it will sell. I have always worked on the assumption that a properly repaired Cat D car is worth 25% less than a comaprable non damaged car.

Re-shelling a car is a massive job.

If you think cat d is only light damage think again.
Check out the White new M3 on copart salvage auction site.
It's seriously a heavy hit, I've seen cat b write offs with less damage.
Always be wary and make sure you see a picture of the damge before it was repaired

PAV: £45,550 GBP
Repair Cost: £37,304 GBP

According to copart. Currently at £10,100. Would need a shell and some.

From what I've been told from insurance engineers that have been to my shop to access cars if the repair cost comes to less than the current Market value of the car but it's an un-economical repair it gets listed as a cat d, but if the repair cost exceeds the current market value it gets put on a cat c. But things like that m3 that are clearly a very heavy hit should be put on a cat b in my opinion. That car could be bodged up by some cowboys and it won't even need a vic check

I`ve seen unrecorded cars in a much sorrier state and they have been repaired.

so have I but the point I was trying tomake was anyone could buy that and cock it up any old way or ring it as it doesnt need a vic check and some poor person will buy it thinking cat d is only light damaged.
Cars with so much damage should have some kind of inspection before it's allowed back on the road.
