986 Boxster Sloppy gear shifter

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone knew what could be the cause of my gear stick problem. Basically, it's never been amazingly springly but of late it's really beginning to feel sloppy in the way of not springing back to the centre position when put into neutral. Is this a simple fix (ie an easy to get to spring to change) or something more sinister?

Hi, sorry to raise an old thread but I have just noticed the same with my car. Is it the damp cold weather? Any advice will be much appreciated.
