oil and filter

i have just purchased a used spyder it has done 8,500 miles and is due its first service in march 012 or at 20,000 miles..is it worth getting an oil and filter change now ? or wait until the first service ?

Oil and filter is a 'cheap' and cant do any harm. I would do it as I dont like the thought of the same oil in my engine for 20k.

Yes do it.

20k is completely daft and I am convinced it has contributed (or certainly not helped) to bore scoring on 997/987/Cayman.

Hi there

Yes do it, I change the oil in mine every 6000 miles, so between OPC services (every 20K) I drop the oil twice and change the filter, can't do no harm and my engine with 36k miles has no scored bores as has been inspected, so it certainly can't do any harm.
