Holly cr@p , I cant get over that 1-100 time its bludy awesome.

So that's only the fist tune and it still has got to be refined. Wow.
what do you feel will be its max potential.

How does that compare to the K16 and billet Turbos, Ken. I must have one of the quickest UK K16's atm??

I cant waite to get it back and have a shot at Brunters.

Frank,

It is just the first tune and we are still leaving some power on the table at the moment.

The 60-130 is 2 up 1/2 tank as normal and can be compared against other similar testing conditions.

To put that time into perspective, a stage 1/2 k16 runs 9.00 seconds against non tuned version which is 12 seconds.

To run 7.00 dead is imo new ground for any k16 based car. It spools so quickly because of the k16 housing, but hits really hard and does not tail off.

Let's get her to Brunters and see what the 0-300kph time is, but I suspect she will be running 25-26 seconds.

This new turbo gives the best combination - early spool and hard hitting.

BTW 0-60 was 3.0 secs

Ken

Impressive times ken.... looks like a solution for K16 cars that offers the same performance as that available for K24 cars with the 18G wheel.

Look forward to seeing what it does higher up the speed range and also how it would perform in a manual car - the MKB tip upgrade will undoubtedly contribute to these times - its a fantastic option to tick for any hp freaks with auto-boxes.

Surely with all that boost the K16 housing is going to get hot and hinder the acceleration from 130-186 ?

Can't wait to see what it does at Brunters, you guys at 9E are certainly pushing it cool

Toby, we have fitted our 3.5 direct replacement cores. The IATs went from 21 at 60mph to 41 at around 140. To put that in comparison, with standard intercoolers on stage 1/2 starting at 24c reach 46.5 at 130. When you consider how much more power/heat is being generated from these new turbos, then IATs don't look too bad. We have just finished developing a 4.5 inch direct replacement intercooler which we will be testing shortly as well.

As we know, when we tuned for 60-130 before on stage 1/2 the car didn't perform well at vmax for top speed because it was running on standard intercoolers and we were running an agressive map and not focused on top speed. But the customer didn't want top speed.

Here we are running 1.4 bar of boost. These turbos require that level of boost - it is their efficiency range in the compressor map.

We have tuned for both fast 60-130 but primarily for 0-300kph.

The car has
- k16/39 turbos
- 60lb injectors with std 3.8 fpr
- 3.5 direct replacement intercoolers
- soft intake piping from intake to turbo intake
- EBC
- stock motor.
- uprated tiptronic box

The turbos have been developed in conjunction with an undisclosed turbo builder specifically and exclusive to us, with the goal of retaining quick spool characteristics whilst providing power similar to k24/18g.

Needless to say after all the R&D (and cost) we are very pleased by the initial results.

It depends on whether your car is manual or tip, whether you already have sports exhaust and so on. We did Frank's car at pure cost because he let us have his as a test bed.

I cannot be specific as to price on here as that would not be appropriate and I haven't had a chance to figure that out either.

The one in Gary's car is the latest version since they don't make the original.

Yes it is that one. I am sure Gary can post a picture - we also made a custom surround for it since none were on offer. I have the old version frown

yes post a pic - very interested to see it.

Ken, the old one rocks - looks 100% OE and do all the key things the new one does, albeit with a bit less razzmatazz !!

Thanks Andy. We are running the same ICs are supplied to you btw. They are better than the std ones for sure, even with the limited testing we have done so far.

The turbos as I mentioned have been developed. We brought a set of k16 billets, and then stripped those to see what was being done. And then put in a new wheel with some different stuff on the hot side as well. They are called k16/39 because they flow 39lb p/m each.

Cracking numbers, that is an excellent job. What makes me chuckle is the likely overall cost. I mean how much to buy a good 996TT and add the mods = truly supercar performance for what a tenth of the price, ie CGT, maybe not quite, then figure Enzo, Zonda.

It is unbelievable really isn't it. That's the thing with 996tt atm a great platform for some fantastic tuning. What can you buy sub 40k with 700 bhp.
