996 wiper blades? Recommendation?

Hi,

I need a full front and rear set for my 996 and don't want to get fleeced at Porsche!

Can anyone recommend a set that are curved as required and where the drivers has the spoiler? Want as close to OEM as possible.

I picked up some front Bosch ones online. Curved with spoiler. Work fine.

Used the Bosch ones on my 996...available from your local Halfrauds. There is a set for the windscreen (1 curved one straight) but you may have to order that.

+1. Far superior and last long time.

Camskill sell both the straight one with or without wing for driver side and the curved passenger one.

I'd reccommend the Bosch wipers- these are original fitment, I'm sure. I did try the flat rubber wipers (AeroVue?) from AceParts (excellent service by the way) to see what they were like. They looked a bit better (especially the rear wiper), but you really do need the curved wiper for the passenger side- flat ones do not contact the screen very well at all.
Had my car in for a service and the b*stards replaced the wipers (which were about 2 months old) without asking. Ho hum!

I've always thought the wipers on my turbo were a bit poor. Will a change of blade change things significantly do you reckon?

Whatever you use make sure the screen is really really clean first! I replaced my AeroVu (due to the end not touching the screen) with bosch (we're a bosch dealer) and it was like smearing the screen with grease. Night driving in the rain was terrifying. Whatever you fit clean the screen first!

Maybe a liquid glass cleaner that dries before being buffed off. - that and RainX.

Just tried this with top quality balsamic vinegar (my logic being the better the the vinegar, the better it would clean)

I now have a a thick, sticky, sweet smelling deposit all over the windscreen that smears when I switch the wipers on. Should I add a few drops of good quality olive oil and and some freshly ground black pepper to the water too ?

My Great Aunt was eighty and she had the cleanest windows in town, don't be dissing the vinegar. My advice would be to add some olive oil as you suggest and then wipe it all off with a nice fresh baguette.

So, after reading this thread I bought some of the PIAA blades in 2011. They were great.

Fast forward to this year, needed a new set (different car) but can't find the PIAA's anywhere at a reasonable price.

So I bought these Bosch 582S

Only problem (as one other reviewer found) is that "These are for a Left Hand drive car. If you try fit them on a RHD, the spoiler is facing up instead of down towards the bonnet. "

What do the rest of you use?

You can just buy blade-only refills.

You can "flip the clip" and make them right handed. I did just that on the ones I bought from Eurocarparts.
