recaro pole position/spg or similar wanted-too much to ask?!
Discussion
:groan: after organising my day off to go & view/collect some leather pole positions the seller has decided he now wants to keep them (?!). how hard can it be to find some seats?!
i'm throwing this one out to the pistonheads crowd before i go & order some new ones from capitol, does anyone know of any leather bucket seats that are or might be coming up for sale??
ideally i'd be after some leather spg's ala 964/993 RS with the sidemounts & sliders but i'll look at anything as i'll be partially retrimming the seats anyway.
so they don't need to have porsche sliders if you know of any seats that may just come with sidemounts or whatever. i've been chasing seats for over a year now, it's getting a bit silly!

Craig,
I sold my 996t earlier in the year which had 996 GT3 black leather buckets in with 996 runners; I also supplied the original seats which I think were fitted in the car before selling.
Try giving Tom a ring at 911V as he may still have them; they are genuine Porsche seats in mint condition.
Good Luck.

cheers for thye heads up tony, but these are to go in the 3.0SC & as much as i love the gt3 style buckets they're just too modern looking for my ol' impact bumper.
how you getting on with minty? lovely car that one
I did wonder if they might be a bit modern looking, but I thought I'd mention it just in case; my minty 993 is brilliant and I'm really enjoying having something completely different.how you getting on with minty? lovely car that one
By the way, your new one looks superb and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished item.

yeah it is a lovely thing your car i've got to say. mine, well it's a work in progress but at least until i find all the bits & pieces (like the seats, momo 07 steering wheel, rs doorcards rear seat delete etc etc) its still pretty much cnsourse. in fact i've just found out the car is wanted by the local opc for their 991 preview evening to go on display in the dealership By the way, your new one looks superb and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished item.

That's sounds OK as long as it's not on show where everyone can access it, can't have scuff marks & greasy fingerprints etc. Might be worth a few goodies off the OPC as well

Good Luck.
Hi Craig, .... following your other posts .....
As you probably recall I put these in my 993, they were the black cloth type new from demon tweeks.
Think they were approx £800 with side mounts and runners.
I used the Recaro seat mounts and the cheapo adjustable runners, never had any problems.
I did however have to drill extra holes in the runners to match up with the existing mounting points in the floorpan.
I also did a bit of fiddling about so the passenger seat would sit as far back as possible so I get a clear view especially on track, but equally as important I wanted it to go well forward to allow access to the rear for the boy. I could just about get in there at a push for cleaning etc and kids had no problem.
You have seen the prices gt3 seats fetch £1k+ ? so if and a big if you could find some genuine 993 RS seats its going to be big money.
My advice would be buy the cloth and tell everyone its Nomex :-)
Whilst on your travels if you can find out what recaros are used in the 355 (carbon buckets I mean) would love to know.
Obviously if you have a friendly trimmer price wise covering either of the above could be an option, that was my original plan with the 993 pending available funds.
Regards
Paul

i can get faux leather recaro p/position's with alcantara centres from capitol seating for circa £400+vat. i think the sidemounts & runners add circa £120 per seat so i'm looking at iro £1150 for two new seats.
then i need to get the centres retrimmed from the alcantara to the pascha trim although that's not deperate, probably add £200 material & labour.
i'm not overly fussed that the seats will be faux leather really.
as for the RS originals they can be had for circa £2k. a lot of money but to be fair i know i could always get most of the money back on a resale so not too much of a worry.
i've heard a full retrim in leather for pole positions would be circa £500 so there's not really too much to be gained in buying a cheap pair of knackers to fix up.
if i could get a pair of faux leathers in good nick (like the pair i was supposed to be buying this weekend!) for £750 i'd be laughing, add some runners & get the centres trimmed to match & away we go!

Thomas has had a pair of 964 RS Recaros for sale for a while.

I don't know the price but as he's had them for a long time I guess they won't be cheap. Might be worth an email to him to find out though.

Probably not of much use but I've got a single leather GT3 seat...
thanks for the offer & although no use to me there might be someone reading who can use it
currently looking at the cost of retrimming two complete seats, i'd have loved an easier solution but i think we all know these jobs turn out to be a ball ache!
or of course does anyone have any experience of these?

I can't seem to find you email address Craig - but I have these.
They came out of a 3.2 hot rod thing with 3k miles so are prety much mint and are on sliders, I suspect the sticker is fibbing as there isn't anything else on them to suggest they are Recaros.
I also suspect they're leatherette not leather, but I wouldn't bother changing that as they look fine. The centre cushions are on velcro so will cost very little to retrim.
The backs are GRP, so if you wanted to go really lairy you could get busy with the orange paint
