somebody please help me! I purchased some struts for my 1995 Carrera 2 cab (993) bonnet, as the old ones were worn out and wouldn't keep the bonnet up. The replacements were fine when new but within three months i am back where i was and have had to replace the replacements! this has been done under warranty of course but the new ones are barely holding the bonnet, i feel within months these will fail too.
I have started a query with the supplier (a nice chap on ebay called frazerpart) who assures me that the struts are as per Porsche genuine parts but are not marked Porsche as the manufacturer (Stilus) is not legally allowed to sell them as Porsche parts accept to Porsche. He has asked me for the number containing an 'N' from the originals, i have disposed of them!! can anyone with a 993 with genuine struts please let me know the number? the 'N' stands for Newtons and is a measurement of the force they apply! so i am told!
thanks Gary

Just get the ones from Euro Car parts or GSF. Had these on my car for several years without problems.

I've just got a set of 4 from porsche for like £50. That bonnet has been falling on my head for the last 5 years!

I went with genuine parts too and they have been faultless for getting on for 2 yrs now.

I just checked them and there is no N number stamped on them that I can see with them in situ.

My advice would be to just go for the real deal and be done with it.

i have just realized that some numpty has lined the bonnet lid with a really attractive sound proofing to cover a poor repair. this added weight is my problem! i have been informed that standard struts are 370N i guess i need stronger ones. thanks for all your replies.
