Been asked for a valuation of a 997 RS 4.0. Seen a LHD advertised on PH but wanted to solicit what range of values for a RHD ?

it's a crazy world who knows what some one will pay if they want one.
If a footballer wants one sell it at 240k that's a weeks wages these days.

Indeed. They are still in that crazy phase.

It wont last long though, they will stabilise.

I am not sure about the LHD market. Although I do know of 2 LHD vehicles in Europe that have changed hands above 235k Euro.

The RHD is different. Far less production numbers. I am able to offer an informed view, as I actually own one.

I have turned down several offers from over seas collectors around 220-250k at current exchange rates.

As for prices to stabilise. I agree, with the rumoured up coming announcement. In my view the RS 4.0 will stabilise at a range of 240-250k

If you get the chance to drive one of the cars you will see why they are in such demand. Along with the end of an era

Will someone please tell me what this "upcoming announcement" is all about?!

I guess the 991 GT3

As for the RS 4.0 they will drop to 170k quite quick imo.
any one who pays 250k for one needs their head looking at, it is not even all that as a road car, it's way to hard for a b road blat, so a bit pointless.

you cannot even put a normal GT3 in sports mode on the road, not even on the motorway.

I like my cars hard, but these are becoming unusable for british B roads.

These days, for 'blue chip' classics and collectables, the lhd market is much stronger than rhd.

I would say they will fall like any other 997,gt2rs already moving, they are not that limited ed, i would realise the mark up as they will not last for long.
Quite frankly anything over 160 in one to two years is wishful thinking and still nuts,i had trouble justifying the extra over the 3.8.
Just think you can have a CGT for not much more!

Respectfully,

I have no hesitation in commenting that the above post, regarding the ride qualities and the” IMO” valuation of the RS4.0 is completely rubbish.

lol you would say that you own one,

but there are 500 of them, it's not like it's a 964 RS lightweight RHD car of which not many are about.

If you have been offered 250k for yours you should have taken it imho :-)

As above! I'm sure Chris Harris would sell his like a shot if he was offered that kind of money - would help him forget about experiencing his biggest ever hit of depreciation on his last GT3!

Brilliant…..

“They are worth 30k over list”

Slight, problem with the above. That being that there are no RHDs for sale on the planet, at 30k over list.

Don’t let the facts get in the way of a good story.

And they've sold one previously. I'd be pretty sure they know the value of them as well as anybody.

There's no way they'll stay over £200k for very long. Look at the recent discussion on 997GT2 prices - there were only 22 UK cars originally and they were at a premium - 2/3 years on and one's advertised to retail at about half price. eek I don't think the 4.0 will drop like that, but settling around £240k-£250k? No chance, sorry. If you've had chance to enjoy it then you'd make a decent return selling now, or keep it a couple of years and enjoy it some more, but I reckon it'll cost you £70k-£80k. smile

Have to agree. Something else will be along soon, and the values will dip/stabilise. Long term might be another story.

I also think it's wishful thinking. The only real price is at auction tomorrow, not what might speculatively be offered at sometime in the future. Sure, RHDs might command a little more than LHD due to rarity but I am with Geneve on this one. It doesn't matter to me specially what side it's on as I'll be driving it on the continent anyway. Absolutely no more than a 10% premium. I reckon I could pick one up before Xmas for 190K. Perhaps not RHD and perhaps with a few miles on it, but still a 4.0. I'll sell the 996 3.4 asap then...

I agree. SCOM, know there onions.

This observation, is based on the fact that recently the above showed very keen interest in my car at a price north of 200k excluding VAT.

This price supports the offers from over seas collectors, the likes of which I have been doing business for over 25 years.

I am extremely fortunate that I do not need to sell my car now, or at any time in the forcible future. I would at some point like my two boys to enjoy it; as such I view my 4.0 RS as more of custodian, rather than an owner.

I note that the OP relates an enquiry for a RHD, SCOM would be a good starting point.
