I have a '99 996 c4 with the standard Becker CDR 22 which needs to be replaced. I was looking to replace it with one of the becker sat nav systems (the Becker traffic pro range). Does anyone have any experience with these units? Are they easy to use? Do they work? Does anyone know of a good source? Are there any problems fitting them into the car?

I've been thinking about various options like you.
Try www.caraudiodiscount.com/acatalog/becker_car_audio_navigation.html
They do all the Becker stuff.
But, the Pioneer AVIC-X1, looks the biz

Depends how much you want to spend !

Got Becker Traffic Pro fitted to my GT2. I paid £700 from a place in Tottenham Court Road, mate fitted it.

Looks stock, which is great.

Works fine, but make sure you get latest CD as it's only as good as it's software.

Only pain is it uses 2 CDs for Europe, so you have to change when going to Germany.

I guess the input system is not as good as a screen based one either.

It doesn't have the Hotels etc on the main CD, but has them on a seperate CD the Michelin guide. It found most places I've stayed in Europe OK.

If you want a really good system though, pay extra and get a DVD system with big colour touch-screen, but they are about £2k.........

Thanks for your views. I do like the pioneer, but I was not thinking of spending that much.
