My Service experience at OPC
Discussion
Booked the 997s into OPC Leicester for a service. Having purchased the car in August they had told me at the time that they would sort me out with a courtesy car and true to their word there was a shiny new panamera diesel waiting for me. Car booked in for a Friday and as I was coming from London they allowed me to keep the panamera all weekend until I picked up my car on monday am. The 911 was due a major service including plugs and drive belt which came in at a very reasonable £850. Having had major services with Lexus , BMW and MB this seemed very competitive. A few things done FOC as well.
All in all super experience and only wish I had known about this OPC before. I had 3 years of misery with OPC london centres (all 3 of them) with my KN which had put me of Porsches for a few years.
If the London OPC's had been better they probably would not have seen me go to MB and then Lexus. OPC Leicester have restored my faith in the whole Porsche experience thing.
Before I get flamed or accused of being a Troll I would just like to confirm no links whatsoever with Porsche or the Trade in any way.

Being an Essex boy I always use Colchester who i have found very good. No pressure to replace things such as pads and disks, and recently had a few little things looked at, had a brand new boxter as a loaner (24miles on the clock), thought it rude not to give it a proper run in over the weekend.
Asked them to look at the clutch as felt was getting heavy, on which they adjusted the action slightly test drove it and prenounced ok, no slip on clutch so not worth stripping down sir as would be £700 to do so!!!

I've used Leicester before and was pleased with the service received. They are usually one of the most competitive OPCs on price. They always seem to have courtesy cars available at relatively short notice too.
The only minor negative I had last time was that they didn't do a good job at cleaning the car. It was still dirty in large patches on the outside, and they hadn't bothered to clean inside at all. They did apologise afterwards though and said they would have words with their valet.
Probably would have used them on my most recent service, but managed to get Hatfield to beat their price, and Hatfield is more convenient.

nice to hear a positive OPC story but am puzzled. You bought the car in august. From an OPC. Youve only had it 3-4 months and you are paying for a major service? Why did it not come with a service at the time?I recently had my old 993 c2s serviced with Bolton OPC. It cost me approx 10% more then the well known independants would have charged me, but the car has a full OPC history (14 service stamps and all of the brake fluid stamps)so it makes sense to keep the tradition.
However the extra money was well worth it. Loan car for the day, full valet, and a very pleasant and professional experience throughout.
Sure they suggested some new rear tyres might be appropriate and their price was not particularly competitive, but I will consider them for any future work that is required even though the conventional wisdom is to go indie.
Overall Bolton did a great job and I would definately use them again, this is after a horrific experience at Kendal OPC some years ago after which I swore I would never use a main dealer again.
I have to say I did not like the loan car. A frightful Caymen with the silly gearbox. Sure you can manually change gear, but I soon got bored with that because I could hardly even hear a change in engine note there was so much road noise from the oversized wheel/tyres.
When I returned the car the service manager told me that 75% of the new cars sold have this gearbox. I suppose that tells us owners of older cars exactly what kind of manufacturer Porsche has become. (for better or worse!)

As a result of emissions regulations and manufacturers trying to keep performane levels up despite cars getting bigger and heavier, it is predicted that within the next 10 years you may not be able to purchase anything above 2 litres without DSG or equivelant. These 'boxes are more efficient and thus improve fuel economy and acceleration times. When I returned the car the service manager told me that 75% of the new cars sold have this gearbox.
