Preferably 996 but other models welcome.

Is it close to black? does it have a tinge of anything else?

Thanks

If you Google 'atlas grey porsche 996' and click on 'images' it will bring up 100's

like this...

It may as well be black for me ^^^ if this photograph is true ^^^ its a bit dark for me and probably a bu66er to keep clean.

996 GT3 in Atlas Grey

996 turbo in Basalt Black (to compare to Atlas Grey)

996 turbo in Atlas Grey (Greenish tinge)

I prefer the 996 turbo in Slate Grey (ideally without colour coded alloys)

Or 996 turbo in Seal Grey

I find it's a very deceptive colour. It often looks black if the light isn't strong, but in bright sunshine it can look like there are shades of blue in the grey. It has a very subtle metallic element that can really sparkle if the sun catches it right. It looks completely different again under artificial lights.

Here's my GT3 - and fitted with your old CF mirrors, Lee smile

Nice colour. That's my second choice after Basalt Black...

If you go to my picture site www.autoperform.co.uk and go through the pages you should find a gallery of a 997 in daylight from different angles which hopefully give a reasonable impression.

It's definitely a bluey grey but it does look fairly unexciting when dirty although shows off well when clean and polished.

My Boxster is Atlas and you can check pics here http://s1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb339/nickfrog...

Some of the shots make the car look blue but that's only the reflection of the sky.

It's a very difficult colour to describe : it's very dark. It sometimes looks a little blue. But first of all it's beautiful when nicely corrected/waxed.

Sounds as high maintenance as black. One of those colours which looks fantastic when clean but a right PITA when dirty!

Atlas Grey is a fantastic colour. I've a basalt black turbo and would probably be just as happy with Atlas. Looks great.

Sorry not a 911 (996) but I think a Cayman looks great in Atlas

Had a Cayman with Atlas Grey - fantastic colour! Always thought it was difficult to truly reflect how good it looks in the metal, in a picture.

Close up

When clean

And when dirty. Is a good colour dirty!

As you can see in the 1st pic in very strong sun light it does have a blue tint to the paintwork on the 2nd more in the shade looks much darker.
I tend to put a top coat of dodo blue velvet wax on top to promote a blue tinge.
