OPC warranties aside, how many here source OEM parts v other brands?

For example, looking at AC condensers here:

http://www.design911.com/Porsche/997-MKI--911--200...

The OEM Behr (#3) part is £169+vat = £202.
What Is the difference with #4, OE Porsche brand? Apart from price! £254+vat = £305

At Euro car parts, the same Behr item is £133 for TWO!??
http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Porsche_911_3.8_...

And these are all OEM parts?? Looking at the Design911 site again, they also have 2x condensers at a low price of £199 above the ones mentioned above,, but these aren't OEM... (obviously shopping around matters!)

Porscheshop has the OE parts at £248 inc vat:
http://www.porscheshop.co.uk/acatalog/air_conditio...

Is there a list of parts suppliers here, if not, let's start it here...

No experience with the first two, but there's no way I'd go near Porscheshop again.

Good website price for some side skirts, so I called asking about availability. "In stock, two days." Cool, I figured, and ordered them. Called immediately afterwards to make sure that all was well, and said I wanted to know if something went wrong further down the line. "Yes, of course!"

Two days later - "They're not in stock, we need to get them in. Two days to us, then two days to you." Hmmm. At least they're cheaper, I figured.

Three days later - "We can't get them for that price, they're £300 more than you paid."

I cancelled them, told them to refund the money, then waited. And waited. Then called back. Then waited. I ended up having to get my credit card company to reverse the charges.

Others may have different experiences - would be nice to think I'm on my lonesome here!

Exact same experience on exact same product, told in stock then not then it would be extra money, useless customer service.

Google is your friend on most of this stuff. We had an issue with our VW bora. I think the maf or something went ponto... Turns out its a shared Bosch part that Mercedes use.

VW price £200+
MB price £94+

The point to remember is that Porsche don't make ancillary electrical and aircon components. Many of these parts are used by other car makers, especially German ones.

They buy them on the open market and put them in their own boxes. Different years of car manufacture may be sourced from alternative suppliers.

I generally try to buy good quality parts from the manufacturer via the lowest priced retail supplier. There are very big savings to be made yes It gives me more to spend on Christmas presents!

That makes sense... and what I was thinking.
The problem "could" arise if giving the parts to an Indy to fit, and the part fails, you are paying twice for the labour.
Unless the Indy buys the parts from their choice of retailer, and it fails, the labour is covered in the warranty.

Right?
