Advise on a 997 911 Turbo.
Discussion
Hi all,
My previous car was a BMW M6, I sold that last year and now want to get a 997 911 Turbo.
I have seen a few on Autotrader and the prices seem to start from about £45k.
I’m currently interested in these ones:

What do you think of the combo? I only do about 5k miles a year so the mileage is not bad for me. The dealer said the car has been serviced 3 times, once by Porsche and the other two by Independent dealers.
Is it a problem buying one without full Porsche main dealer service?
The second has most of the option I want including Chrono pack but the mileage is a little higher than the first one and it has had 5 previous owners.
This one does have full Porsche history.

I'd only buy with a full OPC history and porsche extended warranty. They're good cars but things can go wrong occasionally such as radiators, condensors and turbos. When things do go wrong they're very expensive to fix within OPC network. On tiptronics you need to look for leaks from gearbox. Mileage nothing to get worried about. Servicing is 2 years or 20,000 miles ( I service mine every year though).
A good alternative is to buy a car from 911 Virgin, RSJ, Bramley who are all carrying decent stock at the moment. Looking at those cars for sale they look a bit tired IMO. Mines 49,000 miles and still looks pretty new but I do wash it properly once a month. Black is a nightmare to look after and if I'm ever in the fortunate position to buy again I wouldn't buy another black car

Bramley
Mug prices though surely ? Last time I was there they had a 964t in and they wanted 100k for it , high miles and in a rubbish colour and not a patch on the maritime car sold by a well known PHer very recently for approx 70k. They were also trying to punt out a used mk2 GT3 for more than the original selling price ! That's still for sale after all this time unsurprisingly.IMI A said:

I agree these cars are bullet proof (in the main) and can take high mileage easily. HOWEVER, the trade takes a very dim view of mileage over 50k in a turbo and shifting them isnt easy as a result.A good alternative is to buy a car from 911 Virgin, RSJ, Bramley who are all carrying decent stock at the moment. Personally I think this attitude is completely daft and no doubt perpetuated to justify keen prices for lower mileage cars, but regardless this is where the market is, and buying a TT with high miles will be difficult to move on come re-sale time.

I would not buy one without the sports chrono, it gives you an over boost facility, I'm amazed to see a car without that option, it could make the car very difficult to sell on.
I agree, also you'd be better buy via OPC as an independent warranty will probably not give you the cover. Or buy privately as the warranty can be transferred.Things worth knowing are
Sports Chrono needed.
If you want Sports Seats go with the Electric Adaptive but try as for me they were small, the standard seat in electric and known as the comfort version.
No adaptations are possible if you want the Porsche Warranty.
The leather on Door Cards etc is nice but very thin, so even at an OPC you need to carefully check condition.
This is only an observation but compared to an M6 or SL55 it's a much different car (imo), it's refined but you still hear all the road noise and are less cosseted, very quick but I drive mine 1 or 2 times a week and it still spends a lot of time in OPC with niggles. Regardless of what any one tells you, the trim rattles and this is the only real fault I can find because other than that even as a tip they are a real pleasure to drive
man these cars are a good price now.
Porsche warranty good however but a bit anal. You will most likely want to change the exhaust which means going the non opc route. Black or Silver generally more popular but get what you want imo. As mentioned sports chrono is a must have as adds torque. OPC stamps nice but if one owner for a while has taken it to same good indie then that could be ok too, at trade in some dealer can use that as negative tho.
