Driving lessons
Discussion
Who has had a driving lesson from a professional in there Porsche, who with, and what was your thoughts afterwards?
Having only just bought my first one I feel that I would love to go and have some lessons from a pro on how to get the most fun out of it whilst being safe at the same time. I know a lot of you might think what a numpty, but I have no shame in admitting I don't know how to drive a high performance car correctly, I don't just want to go as fast as I can in a straight line.

No need to feel a numpty. Have a look in this thread - some interesting points and advice

www.carlimits.com is my recommendation...
safe environment, excellent instructor (andrew walsh), and you'll quickly realise you've a lot to learn (which is good!).
Done 8 days there now.

Forget the fact that it's a porsche or even a high performance car, you want to work on your roadcraft so that you can transfer your skills to everything you drive and in all situations.
There is the traditional route of IAM/ROSPA which would then sort of point you at the HPC... Or you can go straight to the likes of Don Palmer and Hugh Noblett who'll be able to tailor a course to your needs.
Just make sure that you keep your number one goal as "to enjoy your car more"
I had real trouble moving from my 968 to the 993 I just wasn't feeling 'at one' with it in the same way I did with the 968 but I spent some time with Don and some other HPC'rs and I'm now feeling it more. I'm not 100% there yet but time in the seat will sort that

Money very well spent! I've had instruction from Don Palmer and Sean Edwards, Don was great for exploring the limits at Bruntingthorpe and really helped in understanding about on the limit handling and car control. Sean helped me with track driving, the result was much much faster laps time whilst being safe, annual refreshers are also very worth while.
