Millers Oils Support Hartech race team
Discussion
Hartech under contract to race with Millers oils in 2012.
While we have been testing out "Nano" engine oil separately - Millers Oils had already produced a Nano gear oil with great results and a well earned and justified award for the “Most Innovative New Motorsport Product” in 2011.
With their philosophy very much embedded in racing research (and with involvement in many top racing teams) and their recognition of the professional and highly technical work we have carried out, our recent success at the race circuits and the ability to manufacture and test out our own products and modifications – it has resulted in a joint venture to use and test their latest products under strict test conditions in our Boxster racing team for 2012 under contract.
We are delighted to become involved - as it provides a direct link to the most sophisticated research and test facilities available and the feedback will help to verify and support our own results and modifications in the future and hopefully result in a road suitable Nano oil for the engines presently vulnerable to cylinder scoring. Together with our low temperature thermostat – this may provide a reliable preventative measure at modest cost to eradicate or significantly reduce the problem.
To achieve this our two Boxster race cars will run with Millers latest oils (including any Nano derivatives developed they may want us to test out during the season), sending samples back to their laboratory for test and putting them through the most arduous of conditions as we try and run at the front of the PORSCHE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP in 2012 with two cars and two former Champions Ben Demetrio and Marcus Carniel.
Our First of two racing Boxsters will be on display at the forthcoming Autosport International show January 12 to 15 at the NEC.

I haven't had the time to compose a detailed eloquent response, but just wanted to add that I'm very excited at the prospect of racing for Hartech next year. I was first in talks with Baz in the summer and have been really pleased with what's gone on since and how I've seen things develop (this recent announcement being a great addition). I just can't wait for "my" car to be finished now and get out and drive it.

Ben vs Marcus in the same car should be very interesting to watch.
I believe these are the provsional dates:
May 5th -- Brands Hatch Indy
June 2nd -- Oulton Park
June 30th -- Donington Park
July 21st -- Croft
August 11th -- Oulton Park International (TBC)
August 27th -- Castle Combe
Sept 21/22 -- Silverstone Arena GP Triple Header

Yep - looks like it to me:

Just to clarify - Ben and Marcus will race in Boxsters in 2012? Are you not going to have any cars in the BRSCC this year? Looks like none of the dates clash.
See you at Autosport - probably on the Friday.

Unfortunately not Spyderman - the PCGB series has to make rules to suit a lot of different models whereas the BRSCC rules are for just one. This means it doesn't matter too much what the BRSCC rules are - as all the cars are still the same - but some rules for the PCGB series allow additional changes and the cars would not be so competitive in that series if all the potential in the rules were not exploited - but that then "rules" them out of the BRSCC series.
We may trog along for a demonstration of the differences in a BRSCC race - without scoring points of course - when we have got them going quickly enough.
It is a big challenge because we only have 1 year of race set up experience ourselves and the cars are not only new to the series but will incorporate a specification never before put together - while the drivers are used to being at the front and will not be happy if they are too far back while we try and sort it all out.
Interesting and exciting it is - but how long it will take to get them near the front is pure speculation right now and all we can do is build them as well as possible and try our best to sort them out in time.
The main problem is exploiting the lower ground clearance permitted - since that also reduces the suspension travel available and therefore needs stiffer springs and all that makes spring rate and damper settings much more critical while the space available at the rear is very restrictive of the type of suspension we can fit in. it also makes the experience in the BRSCC series of little relevance.
Different tests on different days and with different drivers will make analysing feedback very difficult This is mainly why we are going to try and run 2 cars - so we can at least set each up differently for each test day - use one driver at a time and at least work from this out the right direction to go in from that (as I doubt very much we will work that out any other way).
We have been offered some experienced help with this (more details later) which we are extremely grateful for but the outcome is an unknown at present.
I am not sure when we will be at the show - but if we are there at the same time please introduce yourself.
Best regards,
Baz
