Are all tip boxes four speed, a la 964/993, or do they get 5 ratios on later cars? I'm just sort of thinking in a very vague way of changing the GT3 for something more practical for London day to day useage. Or, in fact, a car I could use without having to consider road humps and traffic queues before starting any journey.

5 speeds on my 996, but will usually set off in 2nd from rest, so effectively a 4-speed I suppose when running auto mode. Need to engage 1st manually if you want the full accelerative behaviour

I think the leap from a GT3 to a Cayenne may be a bit much but thanks for your input.......

Although it will be in second at rest, it will drop into first if you floor the throttle whilst still in auto mode.
