I am convinced the older rhd 964's had a different clutch pedal position to the later cars . The later cars seem to give a lot more room to rest foot on and are more comfortable . Is this true ? Or was the car I tried modified or am I just mad ?
Help .

'Tis true I believe. My '91 964 turbo has a foot rest to the left of the clutch pedal whereas I seem to remember that the '90 964 C4 I had before didn't.

RHD 964s up to model year 1990 did not have a foot rest on the left (mine doesn't) but I know of some owners that have retrofitted the later pedal set to reduce the left offset.

Yes, although some part numbers are common to both setups, it's essentially a different cluster. One thing to bear in mind though is that although the later pedal cluster has room on the left, it means the spacing between pedals is slightly reduced. This doesn't suit everyone.

Personally, I don't have any issues with the original set up which has the rest between the clutch and brake as I only use the rest when motorway cruising.

I prefer the newer one as I like to brace myself on track in some corners . Thanks for the tip matey , makes perfect sense now .

Built something to the car you have purchased using a RHD 1990 car and had the same issue. Just couldn't get used to the foot rest being between the clutch and brake. Changed to the later pedal cluster and it really helped although still not the same orientation as you would find in a LHD car.

Nice car by the way!
