Bit more money but worth it IMO as its a year newer. Personally I wouldn't go for one of the first couple of batches of 997s as they were riddled with gremlins like any early batch of a new model. Spend £5k more and get a car that is less likely to have to spend a fortune on to put right. 2 year warranty to boot.

I can vouch for this one, I test drove this one and the 3.6 a few weeks back, both were fantastic but the extra power from the 3.8 was very noticeable much to my surprise. Dan was a very helpful chap as well, would not have had a problem buying from them if I had not opted for a Cayman instead.

That certainly looks great (I love red), but at £34k its WAY too expensive. You are not far off DFI money!

Looks like IMI A has found the perfect car for you. A little bit of haggling and the right price as well.

There was no movement on price when I enquired, they were quite firm!

Eh. Must still be £50k + for a DFI car? No? Trick here is to make sure OP gets retail value on px price for Boxster

You can get a DFI in the 40's. I agree of course that the PX is important, or more specifically the total cost to change.

Ultimately though, its up to the buyer as to whether he is happy with the deal.

I did not even have a PX and there was definitely no movement on price.

there are quite a few cars for sale but alas mostly over £30k. Doesn't initially seem expensive for a £75k car when new but I have noticed OPC selling low mileage 997s with bumper to bumper no quibble warranty on 2007 plate for similar money £35k albeit its a tip in Carmen red which I quite like in terms of colour but its marmite. I agree with Molly the sellers have to come down to earth and negotiate on price as there are approaching 600 997 Carreras in total for sale and thats just on PH.

I'd be interested in hearing if the OP gets any offers above bottom box for the p/x I spoke to various different dealers re part ex'ing mine nine of them seemed interesting in moving up from the book price in order to do a deal, though it's somewhat satisfying that 2 months later they've still got the cars wink

I have found this to be an interesting thread as I too am considering a 997 but an 07 c4s cab with about 40k on the clock. The problem is trying to establish a market price as opposed to an asking price on cars that clearly have no buyers. The car i have seen is a 1 owner fpsh and in vgc. The ownwer is a nice chap who bought it to use as an everyday car, and intends to buy another make as his next everyday car so is not exactly an enthusiast just a porsche owner. There is no hurry and we have only just established an opening price of £36k which I think is just too high but then I didnt buy the car new only to watch the value slide away so I am trying to establish what the car would actually sell for privately or maybe what he would get in PX.

as much as it hurts to say it (as a potential seller) its definitely a buyers market at the moment, even more so if you've got the cash for a private sale! my advice would be ring round a couple of specialists with the details of the car and see what they would offer you as an outright cash sale/SOR, then pitch up at the sellers with that info and offer him/her a grand over over the trade price, regardless of the asking price. I personaly wouldn't take a grand over trade price(the risk on a private sale is too much for £1000) but at £2K i'd be tempted, some sellers might be less firm you never know! a seller can only say no at the end of the day wink

Thanks for your kind words.

It is indeed mint and I will be selling it. Probably looking to move it on beginning of March or Easter.

The problem with being so specific is that you rule out a lot of very good cars, particularly in terms of condition, which should be the prime criteria when buying second hand really.

And by contrast there is no point in not having what you really want when spending a lump of your hard earned cash as well, I am in no huge rush so have the luxury of being able to find the right car for me. Many thanks guys for all the tips, some nice cars out the I did go and see the Holybrook car , which on the face of it looks perfect but was not even offered a test drive

On this basis, you are excluding it?

Maybe I should revisit, but was a bit disappointed compared to the main dealer locally
