my spyder has the cdr 30 but i don't have pcm, what is the best option to connect an ipod ?
i thought the audio interface lead by porsche would do the job, but when i spoke to the parts guy
at my local opc he said the lead would only work if i had pcm on the cdr30.

If you just want to connect an ipod to the CDR-30 and are not too worried about "controlling" the ipod or being able to charge it while in the car, then the audio lead will allow the basic connection. However do NOT use a simple 3.5mm jack from the headphone socket as the sound is awful. Get an FiiO L10 cable that takes the line out from the ipod and gives decent sound.

My Nano lasts the best part of 24 hours between charges like this, so just unplug at home and put back in its docking station.

I've just got a basic lead (although it's flat so the lid will close) from the aux socket (no PCM) and it sounds fine.

Tbh, don't use it often.

The extension from the cdr-30 to the armrest cubby hole is around £70 from OPC. The 3rd party lead I mentioned is less than £10 from China via eBay.

This is good advice.

Forgive the ignorance, but I've got a CDR24 with Bose. Happy with the sound, but want to connect my Blackberry MP3. Does the 24 have an auxilary socket tucked away around the back?

Or can anyone recommend a head unit to replace a CDR24 that could give me MP3 connectivity, Sat-Nav and maybe even be future proofed with DAB? And looks like it belongs in the car, not in Halfords!?

Anyone know if there's a Line out to 3.5mm lead that also keeps your ipod charged from the car's power socket (e.g., cigarette lighter socket)?

I have a CDr-30 with an Aux in connection (no-USB), so would like the best possible sound from my ipod with this set up but also would like on-the-move ipod charging at the same time.....

I bought a Griffin iTrip wired adaptor from Amazon for use with my iPhone 4 in my Mazda 2 (which even for £12k has a aux input on the radio/CD). But you can't charge any iPod or iPhone through its headphone socket.

For anyone interested, this is the solution I found:

Line Out to AUX cable (with an attached USB for charging):
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Proxima-Direct%C2%AE-Black...

USB Car Charger: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-Micro-USB-CLA-Adapt...

Job's a good un. Should be much better sound than the Headphone Output and I can charge on-the-go!

UPDATE: don't buy the Belkin USB charger - it doesn't appear to work!! The ipod cable works a treat though

Following the Blaupunkt radio thread, would http://www.solisto.de/en/solisto.iaux-becker or http://www.solisto.de/en/solisto.iaux-3g-becker (not sure what the difference is) work on a CDR-30?

Response from Solisto:
the Solisto.iAux 3G features an integrated charge converter,
the Solisto.iAux not.

None of the Porsche head units is compatible to these cables
anyway, sadly, and the CDR-30 is not compatible to our "bigger"
Solisto products such as Solisto.Extra or Solisto.Pro.

Best regards,
your Solisto Team

Shame - that looked like it could have been a good option. The line out to 3.5mm AUX cable that I bought works well, but when the lead is plugged in to the charger via the cigarette lighter or footwell power socket, I hear a weird "whistling" noise through the speakers that rises and falls in proportion to engine revs!

Anyone know what causes this and how to avoid it!

I am in conversation with http://www.discountcarstereo.com/ who sound like they are willing to modify their iP-BKR2 iPod Adapter for Becker Radios with "AUX" Menu option for the Porsche CDR-30.

They have not come back with a price yet, but I have provided them with photos of the back of an CDR-30 and the pinout from Planet-9.

This should then be able to plug into the CDR-30 and then have a flying lead in the glove box and will allow charging and playback without FM carrier noise.

Have just ordered one, but it will be a couple of months before I get a chance to get it installed. I am sure that OPC Reading won't touch it and I don't have time to ask Northway to look at it for a while.

Will update this thread once I know more.
