Nothing major, just a replacement horn paid for by a non-porsche warranty company.

I've been advised by the warranty company to take my 997 to a local garage to get the horn replaced. They will then pick up the bill.

I'm concerned that a 'local' non-official Porsche garage might not take the care I would expect my car to get from an official Porsche Garage.

Am I just being daft or would you have the same concerns? Are they likely to cause any unseen damage while raking around under the bumper?

Can someone recommend a local non-official Porsche garage in Durham, Sunderland, or Newcastle?

If the warranty company haven't specified a garage it sounds like they're just trying to get a more reasonable labour rate (fair enough) and you could take it to anyone you're happy with and get them to agree the price (or pay the extra yourself and send it to the OPC) but if they've specified one of their "partner" garages then you may have no choice.

Shouldn't be a hard job for any competent garage though.

Normally a warranty company has a limit to what they pay out for labour charges which is usually £65-£75 per hour. You can decide to take it to an OPC as long as you pay the difference.
