IPD Plenums. (25bhp claim for a 3.4 C2)
Discussion
I have a C2.1 3.4l with a full Hartech rebuild and am contemplating buying one of these:

Anyone here fitted one or have any experience with these IPD plenums, they claim a 25bhp gain, is this the case or would you recommend not going down this route?

That's not off any cup, 996 or otherwise.
The 996 is a single throttle body piece and cable operated, not drive by wire. It's also much larger than that piece. The 997 cup used the same until the intake change at which point the throttle body bolted directly to the intake manifold (no T shape) but still remained cable operated.
It hacks me off folk running phantom cup bits and pieces.

Many thanks for that link 911pI researched these on the 997, the conclusion was - DON'T BOTHER!
The only way to get more power is to the fit the X51 Plenum and X51 throttle body or GT3 throttlebody. HOWEVER in order to do this you MUST have the X51 airbox and cut into the decklid to make it work, this airbox is £2500 from Porsche and even then on a none-S car not sure if it would work.
If an S the above would work but by the time you have finished its going to have cost circa £4000, warranty invalidated and you'll have about 15-20BHP with a map to suite the new parts.
Simply not worth it money wise.
I've modded mine within Porsche parameters, X51 manifolds, PSE, sounds lovely and good improvement in mid-range.

Save your money, had 1, didn't do anything, see 6speed thread.
I read all 14 pages and the vast majority seem to disagree with your findings. The only negative comments on 6speed about this product relate to it being expensive for what it is. Has anyone else fitted one?Gibbo205 said:

Perhaps different for the 997, but from what I've read on the 996 it shows nothing but positive results. A few people had dyno tests and they all seem to show good gains in the mid range. Perhaps it has a different effect on the US spec cars to the EU spec cars though?Richie200 said:

Read the rest of 6speed then and Rennlist while you're at it. There's even an invitation from various people to the manufacturer to validate their claim with a before and after controlled dyno day. Needless to say that never happened. I suggest you use the search function. I fitted it, to a 3.4, you asked for experience, you got it.

Hi Neil, you wouldn't have a part number for the Cup throttle body would you ? (or indeed know it diameter ?)The 996 is a single throttle body piece and cable operated, not drive by wire. If you're planning on fitting this yourself then prepare for a few scraped knuckles, If it's anything like the one I fitted to turbo then you in for some fun & games!
Unfortunately I've not had car back on dyno or had vbox plugged in since so can't comment on any possible gains, manufacturers claims do seem a 'tad' optimistic though.

Will even give you some help on the search..

Just read this Neil, unfortunately not one single person within the 4 page thread has actually fitted one to their car. I am not trying to be deliberatly obtuse, I just want to find out what people who have first hand experience actually have to say about the product. So far only your good self has given any credible feedback. I wouldn't really be doing myself any favours though, by taking only one person's review as my research for potential purchase. The 2 companies I have contacted about buying this have both rated the plenum highly ( with their vested interest I have taken their praise for the product with a pinch of salt) hence me raising the question here. I am still 50:50 at present... http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/996-forum/60...

Thanks for the heads-up EvoSlayer. Being forced induction, your car is much easier to achieve considerable gains, so dyno or not, I don't think the results with your car will provide me with much guidance in terms of comparible gains with the NA C2. Thanks for your input nonthelessUnfortunately I've not had car back on dyno or had vbox plugged in since so can't comment on any possible gains, manufacturers claims do seem a 'tad' optimistic though.

Richie, if you want to spend your money on something I'd recommend the evoms cold air induction kit and evoms remap. This did make a difference and I have dyno, both butt and paper, as evidence. Plus it's a lot less hassle to install than that plenum. Good luck in the mod search though as actually that's half the fun.

ill keep this short rather than taking this off topic. email if you want though.
Short is though that it won't work for a street car without you making expensive and fundamental changes to the car and changing out to motec or MS3.1.
The cup bits get really quite different once you move past the peripheral stuff folks change over.
If you want a larger TB you need to go 997RS and machine your distributor piece to allow the larger butterfly to open. Then remap of course.
heres a photo of one of my cup engines to show the TB. ive one of my 6cup engines sitting in a crate in my workshop just now so i can take pics when im next over for the curious.
