Considering buying a Spyder after borrowing one from an OPC but don't have the luxury of a garage (that can fit it anyway, damn new builds!). Are there any owners out there that keep their Spyders outside? How are they coping with the cold wet weather? Do you expect the roof will last the test of time? That really is my only concern, if I had a big enough garage, I'd be staring at it with love right now smile

What about a roof cover, a la TVR?

I had thought about a car cover, but decide quality ones require quite a bit of work fitting them and it might end up distracting me from taking the car out when I have another car sitting next to it.

Concern is not only over the weather, but also bird cr4p on the roof when the starlings return in spring!

Yes, kept outside. Hasn't leaked so far, despite driving rain and high winds! No downsides to Spyder ownership so far, in my experience. Best purchase I've ever made. Do it!

Are the hoods secure or could they be stolen without getting in the car?

what garage is it, I have a new build with a tiny garage and it fits in no problem, it's quite a thin car.
I cannot see it not going in any garage as this was the smallest garage out of all the houses we looked at.

Since writing the post, I borrowed a CaymanR from Porsche and measured the width with the door partially open and it will fit...the other issue is that I don't have space in the garage anyway because I run my business from home. It will unfortunately have to be an outdoors car.

You'd need to get in the car, as the exterior clips are held under tension and the clasp to the window frame locks down

Hood is secure when car locked. Suppose entry could be gained if desperate, but alarm would sound. Same with any car though, if someone wants in, they will get in.

Car has been parked and driven in some very very heavy rain. Not a drop inside. It spent a brief time being sat outside all the time before the garage was complete, and other than getting dirty quicker, there were no other issues.

Main downside to hood is that, it is louder at speed and it isn't quite as practical as having a button to lower it.

But you rewarded for this little inconvienience when you get out for some roof less driving. There is more positive than negative with the spyder.
