Not that I'm in the market for a 911 Turbo, would 83000 miles put you off? If it had a FSH what (apart from potential resale issues) would there be to worry about?

The mileage in itself wouldnt put me off, that COULD be great value.

But as always, it comes down to condition. It might be perfect, it might need £10k spending on it.

We dont know.

Yes, and it's exactly the same as a 30-40,000 mile car in that respect. The mileage wouldn't bother me one bit if the car's right. If that one is (an inspection would verify) then it looks to be very good value.

If I only had £21k and wanted a 996tt, I would.

That car is my previous car. It has everything that is known to need replacing replaced. I part exchanged it for a 2007 M5 and have since started working their part time whilst at university. If you want to know anymore info PM me. Here is my readers car journal of the car:

http://pistonheads.com/xforums/topic.asp?h=0&f... Next Chapter Seal Grey Porsche 911 Turbo&mid=218160

The price it is at is cracking value! There is nearly £25,000 in invoices for work carried out. It has a comprehensive service history. Open to inspection. I had it inspected before I bought it at ninemeister and carried out all things that were noted at inspection. This was less than 6 months and 2000 miles ago! It has also just had the front bumper resprayed as it had never been done before so was alot of stone chips. The car is immaculate, wheels unmarked etc. I would reccomend you come view the car.

Thanks,

Dan

what hacks me off these days is the thought that 80k is high mileage. Maybe on a 1.3 Suzuki Swift or 1.6 Astra ( even that's debatable) but a 3.6 6 cylinder is barely run in at 80k.
At least its been driven. Nothing worse than buying a garage queen car with ultra low mileage to find on the first long distance run you do things break. These cars are made to run and run hard. IMO its more important to know what sort of driving its done. ie do the running hours indicate its been a motorway car ( great) or a stop start city car ( not so great but still no catastrophe ). Has it any over revs etc.
A 911tt manual for £21k is getting ridiculous , might as well give them away shortly.grumpy

And this gentleman, is proof of the folly of focusing too highly on the purchase price of any Porsche, let alone a Turbo.

Broken record time - BUY ON CONDITION! smash

Echoing the comments about mileage and number of owners etc. I wonjder why people are so hooked up on it?

Mine is a 2003 with 72,000 miles on it and that's an average of 8,000 per annum. In the last two years (under my ownership) it has covered 4K miles a year and has had buckets spent on it in terms of new tyres, discs and pads all round last week, a full service, heatshields, front rads and so on...

It's the condition that counts.

There is someone on an american porsche forum with over 230,000 miles on his 996 turbo its still on original engine, gearbox AND clutch! Aslong as a car is maintained correctly mileage is irrelevant. The 996 turbo engine is bullet proof

Condition.
Miles not a problem.
Without repeating what has already been said, make sure all boxes are ticked.

yes

It's 11 years old FFS. That's an average of 7,500 per year!!!

I'd be more concerned about a car that has done less than that (especially compared to this car which seems to have a strong service/maintennace record behind it)

My 1987 944 has 200K on it, bought with 180K on it and used as a daily driver. If it was a euro box it be worth worrying about, but not on these things.

Bought a Golf GTi this year with 80K on it and thing is like new so go on condition...

I don't see 80k as high mileage, but it was the highest mileage 911 Turbo that I've seen with history. And I'm sorry, but I wouldn't commit 20k plus on a car if I didn't know if it had been looked after!!

My 03 Turbo has over 85K miles on it -- I bought it in June 09 with around 10K miles on it -- and you can have it when you pry my dead cold fingers from around the steering wheel.

Since around 55K miles or so the car has needed nothing but fuel, oil/filter services and tires. Wonderful car.

Sincerely,

Rockster.

Yes this particular one has a good history, but there are examples with over 100k for sale with no history.

Let face it, £20K would buy it. I own an 02' one of these and I have had some pretty amazing metal in the last 10 years. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING COMES CLOSE to the build quality, looks, performance, fun factor of this car. Best £20k you could ever spend. They are gonna have to prise the keys out of my hand when i die, before i sell mine LOL!!!
