I think whilst the diesel is still in high demand and selling like hot-cakes, Porsche will not be in any rush to 'fix what aint broke. But, rumours are that Porsche will introduce a more powerful 'Diesel S' with the bi-turbo 313hp Audi unit. Other rumours suggest the current diesel will be increased to approx 280hp.
My feeling is Porsche will introduce an all-new 'hot' diesel model, called the Diesel 'S'. It makes sense - the 245hp version is more than adequate for most, and will continue to be the 'bread and butter model, whilst a 'hot' version will also appeal to those wishing the regular diesel had a bit more oompf - like BMW's X5 40d.
Porsche seem set on constantly introducing and changing models atm, so i wouldn't be surprised if we hear something soon. They certainly have the engines, and the slot in the Cayenne line-up to introduce it

Hi - i cant remember where, but i read a couple of days back that VW have a twin-turbo 3.0 litre diesel coming out and it will be in the Cayenne.
I have a cayenne diesel on order for march delivery but i am not locked in yet - if this new engine is imminent, i might hold off and wait for it.
Can anyone help on this?
I just can not see it this year at the very least, maybe I am wrong, with the diesel in current form selling so well, what advantage would this haveI have a cayenne diesel on order for march delivery but i am not locked in yet - if this new engine is imminent, i might hold off and wait for it.

I think Porsche also have an eye on emissions and the Cayenne helps bring this down
If I had to take a guess I would have thought spring 2013 but just guessing
Personally I find the current 245bhp Cayenne quick enough for what the car is
