Hi,

Looking at buying a 987 from an indie. I know Porsche dealers can run diagnostics to check for type 1/2 over revs. Are they also able to verify mileage and is this linked to the mileage shown on the dash (I.e. If a car has been clocked will it be possible to spot the discrepancy).

Looking to press the button in the near future but paranoid about accidentally buying one that's been to the moon and back!

Thanks,

Will

Yes. The two readings are usually a little different, but not much.

If the independent is a Porsche specialist they may well have the kit to check this too.

All indies should be able to check. Operating hours against mileage is a good test for mileage verification as is the National Mileage Register (NMR) - although the NMR is not always 100% right.
Rev ranges etc can be checked as well.
