996 headlights question

I have a 996 GT3 to which I have added aftermarket HID dip beams. Given the possible issue surrounding these and future MOT tests, can anyone tell me if full xenon (Litronic?) was an option on the original design of headlight before they changed the shape. If so, I may be tempted make the change provided the cost is not TOO crazy.

I think the MOT problem is due to self-levelling which will be crazy to retro-fit. Headlight washers is the other thing that is required for xenons for MOT pass - but I think you will have this already.

No headlight washers on my car - I was under the impression (perhaps very wrongly) that all the self levelling gubbins was contained within the actual headlight unit, as sold (if they exist for the original lights) by Gert in Belgium.

No, some of the self-levelling gubbins is mounted on one of the front or rear suspension arms (can't remember which).

Thanks - I will email Gert tomorrow for the full sp on this - could be too expensive to contemplate with the headlight unit being £2K on their own.

hi, the genuine 996.1 litronics were dip only.. you can install another HID kit for high beam aswell.. H9 i recall.. try hids-direct.
