Problem I found with the one on eBay was that it was just the right size to get stuck in the claws of the trolley jack's cup which made removing the pad from the oval hole interesting as the pad ad to be lined up just right!
I think I will revert back to a piece of carpet or wood next time.

Ice hockey pucks are indeed good for this application but you may find that you need to cut some slots in them to match the "castellations" on your jack to ensure that you keep it centralised.
The other consideration is that it may add cost you 20mm so if your jack is only just low enough to get under already, you may will need to do as I do and drive the closest wheel up onto a bit of old paving stone or 2x4 to get enough clearance.

Using a low entry jack and the pucks I can easily get uder the jacking points of my GT3 at stock heights (front and rear). For jacking the rear I put the fronts on flat top axle stands using the rear jacking points, then before lowering each side slip 2 bits of scaffolding board under each rear wheel so it raises the engine jacking point by about 2inches, enough clearence to get the trolley jack right under there and jack the rear. The other consideration is that it may add cost you 20mm so if your jack is only just low enough to get under already, you may will need to do as I do and drive the closest wheel up onto a bit of old paving stone or 2x4 to get enough clearance.

I use a hockey puck and a light 1.5 tonne low entry jack. The hockey puck is perfect for the job, you can buy the solid official ones from eBay for around £2. Got that tip from Rennlist guys who've been using them for years.
+ 1 Just check the clearance, espec if tyres low on pressure.....

A 45/55 % blend of Tasmanian Yak wool and the pubes of a Slovenian virgin packed in to a pair of 10 denier M&S tights works too....

hmmmmmmm
I have used these myself and worked great.
Same idea just saved messing around cutting the slot etc::

This is an old post, but i thought it would be rude not to reply, In the end i went for the hockey puck as above and it was perfect for the job and cheap, but when that's had it i will buy the aluminium one on ebay because it locks in the jacking slot and will be much safer i think.Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
