Hi All

I have a 2001 Boxster with the CR-22 radio and 6 play cd under the hood.

The cd player does not work(will not power up) and the radio generally has a poor reception so I want to use my Ipod in the car.Is there a connection or lead I can get for the radio or is there another way?

Thanks.

I think your best solution would be to change the head unit.

Assuming the set up is the same as in my 1998 996,if you unscrew the cd changer in the boot you will find it is connected to two RCA cables behind the changer. You can run a cable from the cabin through a rubber plug up behind the clutch, around the battery and through another rubber plug into the boot where the cd danger and the two RCA connectors are. You can slit the plugs with a knife allowing you to poke the cable through. By using a cable (about 2m long from memory) with a headphone jack plug on one end and two RCA connectors on the other end (about a fiver from a hifi shop) you can plug one end into your iPod in the cabin and the other end into the RCA connectors in the boot (having disconnected the cd changer RCA cables). The iPod now replaces the cd changer.

Depending on how your stereo works, you may have a setting to turn on Aux, in which case you use this source to listen to the iPod. Mine doesn't have ths so I need to leave a cd in the changer so that it still thinks it is playing a cd, and then I can listen to the iPod by changing the source to cd changer.

Hope this makes sense and is helpful.
