Hi Everyone

I have a Gen 2 C2S and wondered if people press the suspension button and wonder who has the PASM switched to Sport in the Uk and what does it do?

Thanks

Ollie

PASM stiffens the suspension in sport and gives you a more aggressive throttle map. I hardly ever use it to be honest. Good for trackdays.

I had PASM on my last Boxster. I personally found it far too hard for the roads around Wiltshire and only ever used it once.

I think PASM only controls the suspension. PASM is always 'on', with the option to activate SPASM silly

You can turn SPASM on/off and the Sport/Sport Plus mode independently of each other. Sport/Sport Plus adjusts throttle map, engine fueling map, gearshift points, and the rev limiter.

If both Sport/Plus + SPASM are switched on, then SPASM works with PSM to allow more slip before intervening.

My preferred combination modes are:
1) city/urban: everything 'normal'
2) open road driving: Sport ON + SPASM OFF
3) Hoon: Sport Plus ON + SPASM On/Off (road dependent)

and I am guessing
4) on track: Sport Plus ON + SPASM ON

The main use I've found for Sport mode is making the car more stable in high winds.

On the Gen-II you press the Sport button to get the quicker throttle tip-in - the base throttle map is a bit lazy. If you have PDK it also switches the car to a much more aggressive/usable gearchange strategy - gears are held longer, kickdown is more eager and the 'box doesn't try to put you in top by the time you've hit 5 mph! Unfortunately the Sport button also engages the Active Suspension Management Sport Mode which (as has been said above) is way too overdamped for UK roads. The combination of undersprung/overdamped at the front of the car is quite unsettling. Thankfully, you can separately switch the suspension back to Normal mode using the suspension button. This leaves you with the faster throttle map and better gearchange strategy (both big gains) but without the unusably overdamped suspension setting - it just goes back to the normal undersprung/underdamped combination we're all familiar with wink
