As the title says - I am looking to see if I really need PASM on a potential purchase of a Gen 2 Cayman. I have been offered a test drive in a Gen 1 car to see if it is what I really want as Gen 2 PASM equipped cars are thin on the ground. Question is, will the differences in a Gen 1 be the same as a Gen 2?

I plan to do 2-3 thousand miles per year and quite a few track days.

Thanks for your considered opinions ...

Gen 2 suspension was greatly improved from a comfort point of view, which may explain why so few Gen 2 cars have PASM. PASM was pretty much essential on Gen 1 cars if you wanted to run 19 inch wheels. On a Gen 2 it isn't a problem.

Thanks Mike, do you think that on a track the Gen 2 would benefit from PASM more than a Gen 1?

i would be tempted to get PASM for the lower ride height as much as anything else. Standard suspension looks too jacked up on both gen 1 and 2.

For a trackday car I'd fit the suspension from the Cayman R or Spyder. Costs about £1500 I believe. My car's fine on track with the standard stuff though.
