...according to Autoexpress.

Can't easily post a link as I am posting from my iPhone, but the summary was:
- small turbo for low range response plus two larger turbos for overall power
- 525bhp
- lower emissions and fuel consumption

Etc

I don't see how they would work that. You got 1 turbo on each header now. Where would #3 go? smile

But you would take drive away if you have 2 turbos on one side. Wouldn't it be better to just go with bigger turbos?

I imagine its to avoid lag, the smaller turbo would be used at lower revs and spool up quickly, switching to the two large turbos at the higher flow rates.

Im surprised they dont use twin variable geometry turbos, but im sure porsche know best.

...3 blowers and they can only manage 525hp, I believe current 'S' is 530!

Would imagine lower emissions and fuel consumption are also a priority. Seems the new car is still under development testing, so maybe March '13 announcement with deliveries later in the year? Or will the next GT3 come first?

BMW are supposedly releasing a tri turbo version of their 3 litre (six cylinder) diesel - with impressive results: 376bhp and 516lb/ft of torque, with 40mpg on the combined cycle .... but that isn't a flat six ....

The Honda VTEC has 3 cams, no? The third only activates above a certain rev range.

Not the same tech, but a similar theory I guess.

BMW 'extra' turbo is rumoured to be electrically driven, so lag free.
