Oil problem on 2002 Targa.

On checking the oil I found that it was down three bars in 50 miles. When filling up I again noticed the yellow gunk inside, which has built up in a short time. Any ideas as someone posted before that it could be short journeys? It’s parked in my garage overnight and no sign of any oil on the floor.

I don't trust the digital meter, use the dipstick. Also only ever check the oil when the car is fully warmed up and with the engine off. The gunk under the oil filler cap can be caused by using the car for lots of short journeys - if you take the car for long journeys only, this does not happen.
