911 2.7RS on Whiteladies, Bristol?
Discussion
I deliberately didn't post this in the SouthWest spotted thread as I thought it was a bit specialised.
Saw this Classic 911 2.7 RS (at least that's what I think it is!) parked on Whiteladies in Bristol near the Sainsburys.
Anyway, it's absolutely beautiful and in amazing condition, a real credit to the owner.
Just wondered if it's anyone here?

chassis number 12804008 identifies as a 1968 912. First two numbers for a 1968 911 would be 11. Which makes sense. Does look lovely though. Around that range of chassis numbers points towards origin of a US California car. Maybe a good rot free shell, not a bad base to start but there where quit a few differences between a 911 and 912 shell. Anything is possible though.

Like what? I thought it was only the gearbox mounts?Edited by graemel on Saturday 28th January 20:50

I'll ask my early guru mate tomorrow and post. Engine mounts where also different. The shells where built at different factories.
912s were made at Porsche or Karmann, just like early 911s.The only differences that I'm aware of are the engine mounts mentioned above and that the earliest 912s had 3 gauges in the dash rather than 5.
The shells are otherwise the same.

Excellent find! Wow, a charity restoration.I've alerted the news desk about this as I think that it would make a fantastic article for the front page of PH, especially as its for charity.

Urm - it's probably a 912 (or 911 1600 of some flavour) shell that's been kitted out as a 2.7RS rep and the details of the plate are for it's previous incarnation? Looks lovely!!
+1 whatever the car is, the plate is not a reliable indicator as it could have come from anything.Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
