wheel alignment visit = ruptured coolant pipes
Discussion
Hey PH!
thought i'd share with you an unfortunate story that happened to me today.
visited a recommended tyre place to get my wheel alignment done. Car goes on ramp, alignment is pointing in practically a different continent so we agree to proceed with it.
Unfortunately, the technician's spanner slipped and ruptured a coolant pipe of some variety. It's small and thin, shiny black but it was under pressure since within seconds the floor is covered in coolant.
any idea what that little black pipe is? it's probably about 5mm in diameter.

Radiator vent/bleed pipe; solid line runs along chassis rail and goes to a T section up to the radiator either side, approx 5mm-10mm diameter and above the track rods. Good call on recovery, air locks are all too easy in the systems on Boxster/911's.......

Not as much as a friend (and customer) who rang yesterday to tell me the handbrake had broken on his recently purchased Cayenne Turbo. He said it was stuck on and wouldn't release, and each time he pressed the pedal it just went on more.
Me: "Have you tried the release handle?"
Him: "What release handle?"
Me: "On the right of the dash, with a handbrake symbol on it"
Him (having found and used said handle): "Oh, err, well don't I look the fu@king idiot then? I better cancel the RAC - it's a good job I got hold of you before they arrived"
