Hey

Does anyone know if you can buy and retrofit the current sport design steering wheel to a Gen 2 987 Boxster?

I can't stand the regular one, the sport design looks so much better.

If so, would you have an idea of rough costs?

I asked my OPC exactly that question last time I visited, he reckoned about £1000 all in... Might get a few hundred for the old one on ebay...

£1000!

I'm not that fond of it! I thought maybe £450ish, but double seems not really worth it

Thanks for letting me know

Personally I think it's worth it, it's a much better wheel to hold and is so key to the driving experience. Granted mine's the paddle one so I get the added benefit of that, but even so I do still think it was worth the cost.

I think someone posted a link to a guy who can retrim your existing wheel in leather or alcantara, may improve the look and feel.

Cant find the link as the search function is broken frown

For a £1000 it would have to be worth it. If you are not reliant upon an OPC warranty I would be tempted to look at some of the better after-market wheels such as Momo or Reverie. I'm not sure what the situation would be regarding retaining an airbag though.

Thanks guys.

It's a bit weird, the car is a Gen 2, but has the Gen 1 standard wheel. So is the squared off triangle, the same as the multifunction wheel without the buttons.

I'm after this one:

problem is you need a new airbag as well, and maybe a new airbag control, thats what kills the cost
